October 20, 1965…At EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London, the Beatles recorded "We Can Work It Out." It was released in early December of 1965 as a "double A-sided" single, with "Day Tripper" (which they recorded four days earlier) on the other side, and it marked the first time both sides of a single were designated that way in an initial release. The Beatles spent nearly eleven hours recording "We Can Work It Out," by far their longest expenditure of studio time on a single track up to that point.
