This more serious topic was prompted by one of you who emailed me the other day and shared a little bit about her young granddaughters and their struggle through this strange time.  I thought I'd focus on children, but it turned into thinking about parents.  What parents do. 

 

Even in the best of times, there are difficult times between a parent and a child. During these times, those challenges may be intensified, either because parents and children are stuck inside together, or maybe because we are not able to be together, or maybe because we're thinking back about earlier years (since we have so much time on our hands!). If we have older parents still with us, we are likely more worried than usual about how they are doing, especially if they are in a group home of some sort. 

 

As parents, we do the best we can with what we have and what we know.  No doubt, we all wonder if we did the right thing, or if we could've done things differently for our children. We hope that we've prepared them for the world once they leave us and go off to seek their own lives when they make their own choices and "make their own bed", as the saying goes. But none of us adults (whether parents or not) expected to hand the next generations the world we are facing today. I hope our children and grandchildren will come to know and appreciate that, and work to make this a better world in as many ways as possible.
