ST. LOUIS, MO – You may have heard of Uber, the popular ride-sharing app offered in cities across the U.S. However, you may not have heard of Goober.

Goober is a website that resembles Uber in format, but does not operate in the same way.

GetGoober.com was co-created by Tyler Kessler after the St. Louis Metropolitan Taxicab Commission restricted Uber in St. Louis. St. Louis is the largest metropolitan area without UberX services and Goober intended to poke fun at this decision.

Goober will send you text messages from an imaginary driver saying they are on their way, asking about your pick-up location, and proceeding to mock the fact that this service is actually impossible under the Taxicab Commission.

Some texts mention how it doesn’t matter where you went to high school, because the commission prevents Goober from driving there. The final text from Goober reminds users that St. Louis is one of the last cities that restricts ride-sharing.
