As temperatures drop drastically throughout the country, it's finally starting to feel a little like Winter. But as forecasters are warning, the coldest is yet to come.

This weekend, arctic air will dip down from Canada and bring bone chilling temperatures to much of the U.S.

As you break out your warmest coats and bundle up for the week ahead, remember that freezing temperatures pose just as serious a risk to your health as snow and ice.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

Keep names and phone numbers of your heating contractor, plumber, fire department, insurance agent, and building owner easily accessible.

Locate heaters, generators and other equipment should it be needed.

Recognize the symptoms of hypothermia including confusion, dizziness, exhaustion and severe shivering.

Check on your neighbors – especially the elderly and those with special needs.
